Expeditions
During the short existence of the MLSE Association we already managed to perform a number of expeditions where we were able to gain valuable insight in marine biology to power our research in that field. Furthermore we could internationally promote the association as such.
South Chile/Patagonia 2018
- With almost the full cast we have successfully completed an expedition to the Southern Patagonian Ice field and Antarctica. Next to our usual focus on local wildlife (and this time penguins in particular) we had the chance to research and inspect the evalution of Chile's glaciers.
Dominican Republic 2016
- A small delegation of the MLSE Association has recently travelled to the dominican republic. The focus of this year's expedition was lying on the mating habits of humpback whales: The bay of Samana represents a unique environment to study and keep track of these fascinating creatures
South Brazil 2015
- Almost a year after our last expedition the complete team of the MLSE Association traveled to the South of Brazil in February and March of 2015. Despite gathering all members of MLSEA for a common event, the research trip to the coast line of Brazil was a striking success and provided us with valuable insight into the present state of the flora and fauna in the region.
Silfra crack, Iceland 2014
- In May & June of 2014 the MLSE Associate undertook an expedition to iceland and examined the popular Silfra crack in the Thingvellir National Park. In contrast to several other spots where we were able to observer marine life in great amounts and diversity this crack does not host much animals but cristal clear water.
San Diego, California 2014
- Due to the various streams originating in the pacific ocean it is possible to observe many large species of fish in the bay area of San Diego, California. Nancy officially performs in the name of the MLSE Association and promoted our goals. Additionally he had to chance to inspect the interaction of tourist agencies, there tour guides and dolphins living close to the shore.
St. Lucia, East caribbean 2013
- The destination of the first expedition and mental origin of the MLSE Association is St. Lucia in the east caribbean sea. The island offers marvelous grounds above and under water. At the foot of the majestic Pitons corels spread over a large area hosting home for several species of marine life.
